Sheffield Wednesday Opposition View: ‘going into Saturdays game I’m not that confident’

Kenilworth Road before kick-off

Fresh off that first win of the season, Luton fans can start turning their attention to Sheffield Wednesday. This matchup comes with a different vibe compared to the last time the two sides faced off at Kenilworth Road. That was during the COVID-hit season when we edged them 3-2 in a thrilling encounter. A lot has changed since then, but with the momentum of that crucial win, it’s a chance to build on it and gain back-to-back win. The energy of a Saturday 3pm will be back in the stadium.

To get a deeper understanding of what we can expect from Sheffield Wednesday, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ash from The Wednesday Week.

Q: A similar start to the season with both teams picking up 4 points, how do you feel about your team's performances in the league so far?

A: We had a great start to the season against Plymouth and then played two teams that I expect to be in the top six this season. It’s the performance against teams like Millwall and QPR that are disappointing as they are teams that will be in and around us come the end of the season.

Q: Have you got, or are you expecting any key players to miss out?

A: We’ve got Dominic Iorfa that will be missing on Saturday as he is injured, but that’s the only player that currently is down as injured.

Q: Who are the players we should be worried about facing?

A: The last few results haven’t gone our way and that means that no player has really stood out at the moment. You would be looking at our wide men Gassama, Musaba, and Kobacki had a good game against QPR.

Q: Are there any Luton players that cause you concern?

A: When your coming up against a team that’s just come down from the Premier League, it’s going to have a squad that’s made up of mostly premier league players - with the exception of some new signings. Personally I like Adebayo, and while not a player to cause concern a fans favourite is Mark McGuinness.

Q: What are your expectations for this game and what is your score prediction?

A: We’re not in the best form; yes we got a point at home to QPR, but have failed to score in our last two away league games and going into Saturdays game I’m not that confident. Unfortunately I’m going for a 2-0 Luton win.
