🎞️ Caught on Film: Behind the scenes at Kenilworth Road
Luton fan Sarah Kelly took her camera behind the scenes on a stadium tour of Kenilworth Road, getting a look at the areas fans don’t see on a match day.
Last week I took part in a stadium tour of Kenilworth Road, which is led by the very knowledgable members of Hatters Heritage. I was able to see the old girl in a new light, completely empty and from a number of perspectives you wouldn’t otherwise get to experience, including the away end and and the press area atop the Bobbers stand.
It’s hard to describe what it’s like when empty, but I felt like I could feel the sense of waiting emanating from every plank of wood that makes up the main block and every flag and banner that adorns the stands.
Way back in the days of non league I was a mascot for a game and got to be shown around the ground. The place has had a bit of a face lift here and a lick of paint there but the magic remains.
I’m sure you don’t need or want a reminder that our home won’t be around forever and so if you’ve got an hour or so free I implore you to partake in one of these tours. If not, hopefully these film pics can convey the feeling and offer a glimpse into what you may not otherwise see.
