đď¸ Caught on Film: Leeds United 3-0 Luton Town
In the latest instalment of Caught on Film, Sarah Kelly took her camera to Yorkshire for Lutonâs trip to Elland Road.
A very cold night in the north of England and a very poor performance from the boys. Still it wasnât all bad⌠the fish butty at Graveleys (on the advice of Simon Darwen!) was delicious.
Elland road has the same restricted view in the upper tier for away fans that both Goodison and Selhurst Park also possess, meaning watching anything on the other side of the pitch has the block looking like a flash mob/Mary J. Blige tribute act. Between the restricted view, 23% possession and ineffective press it felt just like home.
The beautiful illumination of the flood lights on the old stadium are very much diminished by the massive advertisements for Flamingo Land. Doesnât feel very propaâ!
I couldnât help but feel moved by how big it felt like Leeds are in the community, itâs as if the stadium itself had seeped into the soil. With murals on local houses and the Broadband Street furniture all painted in Leeds regalia, it felt like how you perceive football as a child had bled over into adulthood in the nicest way.
Maybe Leeds are right to fall apart every other year⌠do they keep this feeling in the prem? Did we keep it?
Itâs hard to feel festive cheer when you sit 18th in the table and I hate to admit it but the Leeds fans were right. Itâs a long way to Luton when youâre shit.
